In recognition of her hard work and ongoing support to those around her, Carla Thomas from SMS plc has been awarded a special commendation from Intec.
Team Leader Carla is undertaking a Team Leader Supervisor Level 3 Programme with Intec and consistently goes above and beyond to support others. She frequently takes on tasks outside her remit, assisting not only her own team but also others within the organisation to ensure objectives and targets are met. Carla puts immense effort into completing her assessments, thoroughly reading all supporting documents, recommended materials, and learning resources to further her development.

Carla has enhanced her knowledge and skills in leadership and management theories and models. She dedicates significant time and energy to completing her assessments and reviewing all the materials to support her growth.
However, her success has not come without challenges: leading teams remotely has required managers to adapt to new ways of working and help others do the same. Carla has led by example, fostering positivity and resilience through daily video calls to boost staff morale. She took the initiative to create a new training programme with presentations for her team, along with refresher training for those returning from furlough.
While she credits the programme for helping develop her leadership skills, her organisational abilities have been key to excelling in her role. She has provided her team with security and direction during uncertain times, managing the transition to remote working brilliantly and assisting the team in returning to the office once it was safe to do so.
It is clear that Carla is dedicated to her role within the business, ensuring that any task she is assigned or undertakes is completed in a timely manner, with no task left undone.
