We are delighted to announce the winner of Intec’s Apprentice of the Year Award for 2025 is Kevin Green of Muller UK.

Kevin Green’s journey to being named Intec’s Apprentice of the Year 2025 is a story of remarkable growth, determination, and achievement. With over three decades of experience at Müller Kevin has transitioned from a factory worker to a training professional, demonstrating a passion for supporting others. However, his decision to embark on an apprenticeship marked a pivotal moment in his career and personal development.

Recovering from a brain tumour that left him with hearing loss and memory challenges as well as returning to formal education after so many years, Kevin found the prospects of undertaking the apprenticeship somewhat daunting. Despite these challenges, Kevin committed wholeheartedly to the programme, embracing the opportunity to grow and develop.

Throughout his apprenticeship, Kevin honed an impressive range of skills and attributes. He deepened his understanding of adult learning principles, enabling him to create more impactful training programmes tailored to diverse learners. He adopted innovative methods, including gamification and multimedia resources, to enhance engagement and retention. Kevin also developed exceptional communication skills, which allowed him to create clear training materials and build stronger relationships with colleagues. His personal experiences deepened his empathy, making him a more supportive and effective trainer. Kevin’s Tutor, Maxine Booth, highlights the impact of the apprenticeship on Kevin and his colleagues “He has unlocked his potential and he is self-guiding his development needs and that of the learners he supports. It has been a pleasure to work with him and to see the impact and growth from a personal and professional lens”

Kevin has demonstrated resilience and adaptability throughout his learning experience. He managed to balance the demands of full-time work with his studies, using structured schedules and memory aids to excel. His personal challenges became a driving force behind his determination to succeed and inspire others. Kevin also took the initiative to enhance accessibility within his training materials, introducing QR codes that simplified access to key resources for colleagues.

Kevin’s line manager, Luke Ellor, has seen a profound impact from his apprenticeship “His understanding of adult learning principles and his ability to design effective, hands-on training have allowed him to deliver more effective training programmes. His empathy and communication skills have further strengthened his ability to address diverse learning needs, Kevin is a perfect ambassador for the power of completing an Apprenticeship and the knowledge and skills it can give to help progress in a role. His professional growth is noticeable”

The culmination of Kevin’s hard work was earning a Distinction in his End Point Assessment, a testament to his dedication and mastery of the apprenticeship’s key learning outcomes. Kevin’s ability to challenge himself, overcome obstacles, and inspire others makes him a deserving recipient of the Apprentice of the Year award.
