Hannah Robinson, a dedicated professional at Norfolk County Council, recently achieved a Distinction in her Project Management apprenticeship. Hanna found Intec's delivery model to offer a strong and effective mix of formats. She particularly valued the face-to-face workshops and the opportunity to engage with peers and learn from experienced Intec tutor Janice Lawrence. The combination of taught content, self-study, and supportive one-to-one guidance created an ideal learning environment that helped her build confidence and deepen her understanding of project management principles.

Before undertaking the apprenticeship, Hannah was already delivering a project in her role, but without any formal training. The programme provided her with essential project management skills and techniques, and her employer gave her the opportunity to apply these new skills directly in the workplace. She explains:
"My job had a requirement to carry out project management, but not at a highly skilled level. My apprenticeship in Project Management complemented my role, as I was delivering and leading a project but without formal tools or training. It gave me the formal qualification to support my role. I was able to study while also undertaking the practical elements of project management, as my employer saw the value it could bring."

As she progressed through the programme, Hannah applied the project management processes she was learning directly to her work.

The apprenticeship also enhanced her broader capabilities in communication, research, writing, and presentation - all of which contributed to stronger cross-organisational collaboration. Through the programme, Hannah built connections with colleagues across departments, creating a support network that extended beyond the training environment.

Hannah believes that achieving a formal qualification, aligned with the development of new skills, has helped her advance her career. She states:
"My apprenticeship has since helped me to gain a new role as SEND Strategy Manager, which has a project and programme management focus. Alongside the new skills and experience I developed in my previous role, the apprenticeship supported me with a formal qualification to evidence that I've studied, worked, and been assessed in project management."

The End Point Assessment, which initially felt daunting, became an opportunity for reflection and pride. With support from Janice and encouragement from a colleague who had previously completed the programme, Hannah successfully passed all elements - including the exam, presentation, and portfolio interview.

Now, having experienced the benefits first-hand, Hannah is championing the programme by supporting one of her own team members to embark on the same journey - helping to build a stronger, more capable workforce at Norfolk County Council.
