At intec, we love to celebrate our differences and promote equality & diversity. Every month we compile a list of all the special dates & events from all different religions and faiths around the world, so you can learn more about other cultures and what's improtant to them.
March is
UK Marie Curie Cancer Care Great Daffodil Appeal Month
Marie Curie is a registered charitable organisation in the United Kingdom which provides care and support to people with terminal illnesses and their families. It was established in 1948, the same year as the National Health Service. March is their Great Daffodil Appeal month where they try to get as much support as they can. They urge people to show their support for such a brilliant charity by volunterring or making a donation and the wearing of a daffodil to show support.
1st March
Self-Injury Awareness Day
Each year, the 1st of March is designated as SIAD around the world. It's a time when we can all come together to help raise awareness about self-injury and self-harm.
International Wheelchair Day
The day is important for millions of wheelchair users around the world becuse their lives would be very different without their wheelchair. It's a chance for wheelchair users to celebrate the positive impac their wheelchair has in their lives.
Zero Discrimination
This is a global movement that takes place on 1st of March every year. Headed by UNAIDS, the day is a call to action for eradicating discrimination in all forms and promoting social inclusion and tolerance.
3rd March
World Hearing Day
World Hearing Day is an annual global advocacy event for raising awareness regarding hearing loss and promoting ear and hearing care, and calling for action to address hearing loss and related issues.
8th March
International Women's Day
International Women's Day (IWD) has been observed since the early 1900's, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialised world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies. Annually, on the 8th March, events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate their achievements.
12 March
No Smoking Day
Proud to be a Quitter presents quitting as something to be proud of, and 'Quitters' as people to be admired. Some companies help to encourage as many smokers as possible to quit by organising their own event on the day.
14th March
University Mental Health Day
A great opportunity to bring together all of the key players in student mental health. By being part of a national initiative, we can work together to reach a wider audience and make a noise about mental health on campuses across the UK. The day is also an opportunity to get more students involved in volunteering project and events, helping to build up a larer base of students and staff to support future health promotion and campaigns.
10th to 16th March
Brain Awareness Week
This awareness week unites the efforts if partner organisations worldwide in a celebration of the brain for people of all ages. Events include open days at neuroscience labs; exhibitions about the brain; lectures on brain-related topics, displays at libraries and community centres and classroom workshops.
17th to 23rd March
Neurodiversity Celebration Week
Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurodevelopmental disorders and learning disabilities. It aims to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported by providing schools, universities, and organisations with the opportunity to recognise the many talents and advantages of being neurodivergent, while creating more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual.
20th March
Spring Equinox
Spring Equinox is another name for the equinox also known as vernal equinox and March equinox. An equinox is the moment in time (not a day-long event) when the Sun stands directly above the equator and day and night are of approximately equal length. For the Northern Hemisphere, the spring equinox is the moment when winter ends and spring begins, while for the Southern Hemisphere it is the moment when summer ends and fall (autumn) begins.
International Day of Happiness and Wellbeing
The General Assembly has proclaimed 20th March the International Day of Happiness recognising the relevance of happiness and well-being as universal goals and aspirations in the lives of human beings around the world and the importance of their recognition in public policy objectives.
21st March
International Day for the Elimation of Racial Discrimination
On this day, in 1960, polic opened fire and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration (in South Africa) against apartheid 'pass laws' The General Assembly called on the international community to redouble efforts to elimate all forms of racial discrimination.
World Poetry Day
In celebrating World Poetry Day, UNESCO recognises the unique ability of poetry to capture the creative spirit of the human mind. One of the main objectives of the Day is to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and to offer endangered languages the opportunity to be heard within their communities.
World Down Syndrome Day
Down syndrome is a naturally occurring chromosomal arrangement that has always been a part of the human condition, exists in all regions across the globe and commonly results in variable effects on learning styles, physical characteristics or health.

It's a day to celebrate water. It's a day to make a difference for the members of the global population who suffer from water related issues. It's a day to prepare for how we manage water in the future.
World Bipolar Day
World Bipolar Day (WBD) is celebrated each year on 30th March. Individuals reflect on connection, outreach and advocacy. WBD provides a moment to join together in solidarity around the goals of increasing awareness, acceptance and funding for this illness.

Mother's Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world.

International Trans Day of Visibility
International Transgender Day of Visibility (often referred to as TDOV or Trans Day of Visibility) is an annual event occurring on March 31 deducated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide, as well as a celebration of their contributions to society.
