When applying for an apprenticeship, providing as much detail as possible is essential. To get started on the Digital Apprenticeship Service, you’ll first need to create an account using your name, email, and phone number.

Remember, this is your application—not your parents’. Take charge of your career by completing the details yourself. Picking up the phone to speak with new people can feel challenging at first, but it does get easier with practice.

The application will cover areas such as: 

• Education:Share details of your academic background, including any qualifications from GCSEs, A-Levels, or college courses you completed.

• Work History: If you have prior work experience, that's great! However, don’t worry if you’re starting fresh; apprenticeships are designed to help you develop essential job skills. Be sure to include any voluntary work as well.

• Application Questions: This is your opportunity to explain why you're interested in the role and why you would be a great fit. Review the job description and consider what unique strengths you can bring to the position.

• Interview Adjustments: If you have a disability, health condition, or neurodiversity, you can request adjustments to ensure a comfortable interview experience.

Your CV should be broken down into the following sections:

• Contact Details: Make sure your phone number and email are correct so employers can reach you.
• Personal Summary: Write a few sentences about yourself and what you can offer. Think of this as a quick introduction to show why you’d be great for the role.
• Key Skills: Share the skills you have that match the job. Try to add a couple of examples to show how you’ve used them.
• Work History: List any jobs you’ve done, including voluntary work—every experience counts!
• Education: Include details about your education, like GCSEs, A-Levels, or any courses you’ve completed.
• References: If asked, you can provide these.

We will ask you questions about:

• What attracted you to apply for the role?
• Why you chose this particular apprenticeship?
• What are your top skills for this role?

On the day:

• Try to relax: Practice breathing techniques or meditation.
• Arrive early: Aim to be 10-15 minutes early to allow yourself time to settle in and find the interview location.
• Bring necessary documents: Have a copy of your CV, cover letter, and any other required documents or certificates with you.
• Stay hydrated: Drink some water beforehand to help you stay calm and focused, but not too much, to avoid discomfort during the interview.
• Stay present: Listen carefully to each question, and take a moment to think before answering if needed—this shows confidence and thoughtfulness.
