Apprenticeship Levy & Funding

What We Do

We partner with a diverse range of organisations—from SMEs to large multinationals across various sectors—and work to keep you informed of the latest funding changes.

To access apprenticeship funding, employers must register on the Digital Apprenticeship Service. Our Account Managers can support you through this and provide expert guidance on the Levy. Funding options vary based on the organisation's size and the apprentice's age, and there are additional incentives to recruiting apprentices under 25.

We’re here to simplify the process and help you access high-impact training in a cost effective way.

Paying Into the Levy

Since 2017, organisations with a wage bill over £3 million have been required to contribute to the Apprenticeship Levy—a monthly payment of 0.5% on any amount exceeding the £3 million threshold. For example, if an organisation’s wage bill is £4 million, the Levy applies only to the £1 million over £3 million. Levy funds accumulate over time and include a 5% government top-up, with unused funds expiring after 24 months.

Collected through the organisation's PAYE system, the Levy must be used to fund apprenticeships, either by recruiting new apprentices or developing existing employees.

Levy-paying organisations can also transfer up to 50% of their Levy funds to other organisations, such as charities for corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives or businesses within their supply chain.

Non-Levy Funding

Organisations with a wage bill of less £3 million do not contribute to the Levy and so are eligble for government funding to cover the cost of the apprenticeship. This supports your businesses growth by providing high-quality training for your team.

For apprentices aged 21 or under before the date of the programme enrollment, the cost of apprenticeship training is fully funded by the government.

For organisations that don't pay into the Levy and where the apprentice is aged 22 or over. The cost of apprenticeship training is 95% funded by the government with employer contribyuting the remaining 5%.

Private Funding

Learners may sometimes be ineligible for apprenticeship funding, which can be challenging for international organisations seeking consistent training across their teams. To address this, private funding is available as an option for our programmes.

If you're interested in a programme you can self-fund, please explore our courses section.

Functional Skills Funding

As part of an apprenticeship, learners need to have a Level 2 in maths and English, which is similar to getting a GCSE grade C or Level 4. If they haven't already achieved this before starting, we can access government funding to help them complete these courses during their apprenticeship.

Alternatively Functional Skills can be delivered as a standalone private course.

Additional Financial Incentives

Pay No NI Contributions & £1000 Incentive

Hiring a young apprentice brings valuable advantages. Organisations are exempt from paying Employer National Insurance contributions for apprentices under 25, and, with the government’s £1,000 financial incentive for taking on an apprentice aged 16 to 18, it’s never been a better time to invest in fresh talent.
