In little more than a year, Rory McKenna has risen from Apprentice
to Bookings Manager at leading promotional and event staffing agency Envisage Promotions and
is set to continue his career development.
Rory left school and went to study A- levels at his local
college, after the first year he decided it wasn’t for him and left to do an
Engineering course. Subsequently he also decided this course wasn’t for him and
he went back to study his original A Levels.
Rory then went on to gain an Apprenticeship in Business
Administration with Envisage and Intec Business Colleges. Rory felt this Apprenticeship worked better
for him as the work placement gave him work experience, a nationally recognised
qualification and transferrable skills.
Rory completed his Business Administration level 2 Diploma and has now
been promoted to Team Leader.
Rory, who now has responsibility for a new apprentice,
said: “I’m so pleased to have received the award and I can see a real future
with the company. In five year’s time I
want to manage a branch and have my own office but stay in the same industry
sector”.
As
a Team leader Rory is learning new skills and the CMI level 2 Diploma he is
doing through Intec Business Colleges is giving him the opportunity to learn
and understand processes of management and then put them into practice. He signed up for the course to” become a good
team leader” and so far the course has given him the knowledge
and understanding of the recruitment process, essential to his role. Rory
enjoys problem solving and coaching new members of his team. He said he has become more organised since
starting this course and feels he has more of a direction to where he wants to
be in the future.
The next step is Management level 3.
