In little more than
a year, Rory McKenna has risen from apprentice to bookings manager at leading
promotional and event staffing agency Envisage Promotions and is set
to continue his career development. The Rising Star Award acknowledges progression and
development in newly-qualified apprentices.
Rory, who now has responsibility for a new apprentice, said:
“I’m so pleased to receive the award and I can see a real future with the
company. I’d like to be managing a
bigger team before too long but after that, the sky’s the limit!”
Darren Bunting, managing director of Intec, presented the
certificate to Rory and said: “Apprenticeships are all about acquiring new
skills that are relevant to employers whilst for the learner, they are not the
end of the journey, they are the beginning of a career. We want to acknowledge the rising stars in
the workplace post-apprenticeship. Rory
perfectly embodies the benefits of modern apprenticeships – a win-win for both
him and his employer.”
Director at Envisage, Lee Murphy, knew that Rory had the
right attitude when he first interviewed him:
“The first time I met Rory, he was working two jobs at the
same time, which to me shows great commitment and determination to work. I knew
he would be a good addition to our team so I was pleased to offer him a job.”
Whilst undertaking a BusinessAdministration apprenticeship delivered by Intec, Rory’s initial
responsibilities at Envisage included maintaining spreadsheets, providing staff
with the correct details of events and checking to see if they have arrived at
the job on time. After successfully completing his diploma, he was promoted to
Bookings Manager in November 2015.
Lee continues: “Rory shows great commitment towards his
work. Even though the office day can be quite hectic, Rory still finds time to
write blogs and pages for our company websites.
The bookings team is much more efficient now, Rory has
improved the communication between us and our promotional staff which means we
are able to retain the best ones and deliver the best service to our
clients. We value his input in meetings,
he has great ideas that help improve efficiency and customer satisfaction. He
displays great innovation and ability to think outside the box, which is a
great component of producing new services to offer clients and our promotional
staff.”
